Fighting Solves Everything
Absolvierende Austellung • 2023In this exhibition, I present a selection from a series of over 60 drawings originally intended to adorn the border of a boxing ring canvas. The canvas, still a work in progress, was temporarily installed at the Church Street Boxing club in New York.
Over the course of 6 months, I challenged the prevailing paradigms in my work, dedicating the majority of my time to training in Muay Thai and Kung Fu while continuing my artistic practice on the periphery. This resulted in a series of drawings depicting human silhouettes, whose missing limbs evoke images of ancient statues. The figures are depicted grappling with subdued or immobilized beasts, grasping them by their horns or genitalia. These motifs draw inspiration from ancient Mesopotamian seal engravings depicting wrestling scenes between a man and a bovine-like creature. Gradually, my drawings incorporated elements from the agro-industrial world.
